When executing a marketing campaign (or any type of campaign), you have one goal: inspire action. It’s a difficult task, but necessary to create the outcome you desire. Change is inevitable, so if you’d like to see it go in your favor, you must take the appropriate action to impact it. And you don’t need to create change on your own; your target audience will help you. They just need a little inspiration. Here’s a strategy to help you inspire your audience to act. Tell a story. Begin by sharing a story that your audience can relate to. Each person already has their own story to tell, so connect with them in a way they can relate. Is your goal to encourage your audience to donate to a charity? Tell them about how you got involved. Guide them on a journey that shares how the charity has impacted your life. And make it interesting! As soon as you lose their interest, you lose their attention. It’s very difficult to inspire somebody if you’ve lost his or her attention.
Connect emotionally. Add depth to your story with emotions. If the audience feels a connection with your words, they are much more likely to act. People are full of emotions. Try and connect with the right ones. If you’re selling vacation packages to exotic locations, help your audience feel excited about the potential experiences. If your goal is to seek support for a cause, speak to your audience members’ compassionate side. By further connecting your audience with your story, you’re moving one step closer toward gaining their support. Provide a plan of action. Lastly, provide them with a plan of action. Let them know what they can do to get from point A to point B. They already have interest – now just show them the possible routes to take. If your goal is to increase support for a specific cause, educate your audience on how they can get involved. Is there a site they can visit to donate? Are there local charity events they can attend? Let them know! And remember, always embrace the product or cause that you’re trying to get others involved with. They’ll only truly appreciate your offer if your words are sincere.
