The new Lilac Hills Ranch includes a new K-8 school, new or expanded fire station, dozens of local road improvements and other amenities for North County San Diego (February 22, 2018)--Led by a new development team, the new Lilac Hills Ranch includes a new K-8 school, a new or expanded fire station, more than two dozen road improvements, over 16 miles of trails, 11 parks, and solar panels and electric vehicle chargers with every home – all anchored by a vibrant town center. The community will be San Diego County’s first New Village, adding attainable homes, jobs and public amenities in a walkable layout. The new Lilac Hills Ranch includes more than three dozen new features and community benefits, including every recommendation made by county planning officials. The community has been designed as the first carbon-neutral Village in the county, meaning that features like solar panels on every home, electric vehicle charging stations in every garage, and investments in renewable resources will reduce all greenhouse gas emissions to zero. The Clear the Air Coalition released the following statement today: “The San Diego County Board of Supervisors made a sound public policy decision today when it voted unanimously to conduct a thorough apples-to-apples analysis of all options to reach its renewable energy goals prior to selecting an option in 18 months – a recommendation our coalition asked the county to consider. Proceeding with a new energy procurement model is a major endeavor that could carry significant taxpayer risks. It is critical the County make this decision with a full understanding of the risks and benefits, and what it may mean for our region’s economy and communities. “Special thanks to our coalition co-chairs for addressing the supervisors today: Haney Hong, President and CEO of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association; Rev. Gerald Brown of the United African American Ministerial Action Council; and Ruben Barrales, President of the Latino Leadership & Policy Forum. “The Clear the Air Coalition is a diverse group of community, business and civic leaders from throughout the San Diego region that supports reaching our climate goals in a cost‐effective manner. Our organization applauds the County’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in a way that supports our economy and protects local communities. We look forward to continue working with the County on this important effort.” About: The Clear the Air Coalition is a group of business, environmental, civic and taxpayer leaders working to ensure a diverse range of voices is heard and important questions are answered before critical decisions are made about San Diego’s climate future. Coalition wants illegal costs generated by government-controlled energy programs eliminated2/2/2018 CPUC to vote on proposal that would potentially save utility customers millions of dollars and eliminate an unfair and illegal cost. SAN DIEGO (February 2, 2018) – The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will soon vote on a proposal to eliminate an illegal cost shift that could potentially save California utility customers millions of dollars. In the San Diego region, this would protect millions of utility customers who would be forced to pay more than their fair share for electricity as government-controlled energy programs, known as Community Choice Aggregation (CCA), are adopted by some cities. Under current regulations, CCA customers are paying less than their fair share of energy reliability costs during their first year of operation, according to the CPUC. The CPUC proposal is intended to end this unfair cost shift. |
