Greater San Diego Association of Realtors® Celebrates Excellence in the Real Estate Industry

SAN DIEGO (January 23, 2017) - The Greater San Diego Association of REALTORS® honored real estate’s top producers and members who exemplify excellence in real estate at its annual “Circle of Excellence,” on Saturday at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar.  The event featured guest host and basketball legend Bill Walton. The evening program included the installation of Bob Kevane as President, as well as the officers and directors who serve on the 2017 SDAR Leadership Team.
The “Circle of Excellence” event recognized the top 5% of real estate professionals with the prestigious “Recognition of Excellence” honor. More than 700 Realtors were honored for being the top 5% of 19,000 real estate professionals in San Diego County for production as a team or individual (a minimum of 15 units sold and $15 million in sales).

Community HousingWorks acquisition and renovation preserves affordability of The Groves

​PASADENA (Jan. 23, 2017) – Forty-four families were at risk of losing their affordable apartments when federal rent restrictions expired at The Groves in 2014. The apartments, owned by an affiliate of Pasadena’s Westminster Baptist Church, needed repairs and were in a position to be sold and redeveloped at market rents in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood.

The Chargers Stopped Caring About San Diego Two Years Ago

I was tired of listening to Mark Fabiani. For more than an hour he arrogantly presented a series of rigid deal points on behalf of Chargers owner Dean Spanos to Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s newly formed stadium task force. I had heard enough so I quietly opened my laptop to check Twitter. What I saw surprised me.

​The memo Fabiani had prepared for the task force was all over Twitter. He had given it to the media before our morning meeting two years ago at the U.S. Grant Hotel.
 
After the Chargers stadium point man wrapped up and left I turned my laptop around. “He released his memo to the media before sharing it with us,” I said to a stunned room.
 
That was our first meeting with the Chargers and it set the stage for everything else, including last week’s announcement that the team was moving to Los Angeles.
