SAN DIEGO (October 30, 2014)---Mayor Kevin Faulconer, former Mayor Jerry Sanders, and other city leaders urged San Diegans to vote for Chris Cate at a news conference today at Harbor Island Park. “Chris Cate’s knowledge, experience and commitment to good government, neighborhood services and job growth would make him an excellent asset for the residents of District 6,” said Faulconer, who hired Cate as his policy advisor when he was a council member. “I am looking forward to working with Chris again.” The only City Council seat up for election is District 6. Mayor Faulconer and Sanders both support Cate, they said, because of his experience as a taxpayer advocate who has fought for numerous voter-approved reforms, including pension reform, which will save taxpayers more than $1 billion.
“I can tell you with absolute certainty that Chris Cate is the best candidate to help foster an economic climate that will create jobs and grow businesses in San Diego,” said Sanders, President & CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. Standing beside Faulconer, Sanders and Councilmembers Lorie Zapf, Scott Sherman and Mark Kersey, Cate said: “From Day 1 of this campaign I have talked about using my experience to fully implement voter-approved reforms and reinvesting those savings back into our neighborhoods. I can’t do that without these leaders. I’m looking forward to working with each of them to improve San Diego neighborhoods and create good-paying jobs for working families.” Cate added: “Voters have a choice between two very different candidates who have run very different campaigns. District 6 voters should choose experience. They should choose a proven leader who fights for government reforms. They should choose a small business owner who knows what it’s like to balance a budget and manage payroll. They should choose the candidate who has experience protecting taxpayers, who will best represent them, who is committed to rebuilding neighborhoods and creating good-paying jobs. “I’m looking forward to Election Day. It would truly be an honor to serve the residents of District 6.” Click here to see Chris Cate’s new video. www.cateforcouncil.com CONTACT: James Hauser | 908-902-4934 | [email protected]
