WHAT: Second annual International Real Estate Congress

WHO: 18 cities from all corners of the globe under one roof in San Diego showcasing approximately 50 impressive projects to capital investors and other commercial real estate professionals.

More than 250 people are registered for the event including guests traveling to San Diego from Shanghai, Paris, Tijuana, Costa Rica and Belize, as well as San Antonio, Vancouver (Washington), Scottsdale, Reno and Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and Davenport, Florida.

San Diego is showcasing two projects at the Congress:

  1. The Protea Waterfront Development plan for Seaport Village, an iconic project that would open up San Diego’s waterfront and include a marine-focused charter school, water sports, an outdoor gym, boating and swimming, beaches, an expanded esplanade, shops, restaurants and anchor attractions that include a state-of-the-art aquarium and The Spire, which would carry people 500 feet above the bay to enjoy breathtaking views. 1. The Metropolitan Airpark Development Project (MAP) incorporates stunning architecture with state-of-the-art amenities along with tarmac access to two airport runways. MAP brings together aviation, industrial, commercial, retail and hospitality to stimulate cross-border commerce and economic development to the Otay Mesa area of San Diego.

HOSTS: the Greater San Diego Association of REALTORS® (SDAR), the San Diego Regional EDC, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, the County of San Diego, and the City of San Diego’s Economic Development division.

WHEN: TODAY – Tuesday, Sept. 13, 8AM to 4:30PM

WHERE: San Diego Convention Center, in the Sail Pavilion (111 W. Harbor Dr. San Diego)

“San Diego has a long history of collaborating with other cities and countries to create more economic growth opportunities,” said Cory Shepard, Board President of SDAR. “San Diego also is home to a wealth of creative talent in life sciences, high-tech, cyber technology, clean technology and blue technology. It's one of the reasons why San Diego is such a fantastic place to invest and do business.

“As much as I love to talk about San Diego, I need to stress that the International Real Estate Congress is bigger than San Diego. This event will showcase impressive projects from all corners of the globe. The goal is to connect capital with investment-ready projects, to network and to share best practices. I can't think of a better location for the Congress than San Diego.”

ADDITIONAL INFO: Alongside the International Congress event at the Convention Center, SDAR is hosting its annual Expo, which is expected to draw more than 2,000 real estate professionals and more than 150 exhibitors.

The keynote luncheon will give attendees a first-hand opportunity to hear about the changing industry landscape from Zillow, Redfin, Homes.com and Realtor.com. Expo attendees also will learn what is happening with MLS and the importance of website ADA compliance. Breakout sessions at the Expo include:

  • Housing Affordability: The Future of San Diego’s Housing Market
  • Safety in an Immersive Online Environment
  • A Day in the Life a Nerdy REALTOR®
  • Secrets of Super Sales People: Why 80% of Salespeople Fail and How Not to Be One
###
With more than 12,000 members, the Greater San Diego Association of REALTORS® is the largest trade association in the county. We help our members, who adhere to a code of ethics and professional standards, sell more homes.
