Seaport San Diego: Website Refresh and Social Media ManagementChallenge
Seaport Village has been a beloved feature of the San Diego waterfront for decades. With a new plan to revamp the site in the works, our team was hired by Protea Waterfront Development, the developer of the new Seaport San Diego project, to lead public relations and community engagement. Included in our work was an update to the project’s website and ongoing management of the site, as well as social media management, to help keep the public informed and engaged through an extensive planning, entitlement and construction process. Solution MNM began by auditing the project’s existing website, producing a document with short, medium and long-term goals. This document formed the basis for design and content updates as well as overall communications strategy. MNM crafted new content and selected new images for all of the site’s pages to inform the public about the planning process while generating excitement about the new Seaport San Diego. The new website combines an engaging visual sensibility with useful information and a public engagement component, allowing community members to submit questions, request more information and sign up for updates. MNM recommended the creation of a News Blog page for the site, and the client recently agreed with our suggestion to add this new page, which our firm will build. In addition to our digital work and community engagement, MNM is leading media relations efforts for Seaport San Diego. Results Seaport San Diego continues to evolve with temporary site activation set to begin in 2019 in addition to a new evolution of the plan, which was presented to Port Commissioners and the public in late 2018. Following the implementation of our website updates and social media management, the project has seen increases in both social media followers and website visitors. |
